Shannon Boutcher is a native Long Islander, born and raised on the East End. She attended SUNY New Paltz where she graduated with a BA in Communication and Media. At the very end of her college career, she realized she had a passion for radio and television broadcasting. Realizing that she had zero experience in either one, she attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Westbury, LI. After graduating from the program, she began to pursue a career in TV news, working for News 12 Traffic and Weather as a fill-in traffic reporter, while pursuing voiceover work on the side.
In August, she heard WLIX broadcast from 107.1 for the first time. Rich’s voice came in loud and clear and the first words she heard him say were, “I believe there is going to be revival on Long Island.” He then went on to say that revival begins with us. It was that day that she surrendered everything in her life to God and made a new commitment to follow Him. God was calling her into ministry and led her to WLIX where she has found a home. Her prayer was that she would be a voice for this generation, and God is faithfully answering that prayer. Shannon is the Executive Producer of WLIX Programming for The Morning Drive, as well as the host of The Afternoon Drive every Monday through Friday from 3-6pm.
