It is entirely made from red brass (the good pre WWII stuff!) and has generous amounts of solid nickel trim. This horn gets a very good sound and is much better than the nearly unplayable Chinese made sackbuts you'll see online for hardly much less. The only regular maintenance required is to clean and oil the slide now and then and grease the tuning slide (it rests behind the player’s head) as needed.

Used trombones cost less and are usually available at some music shops and dealers. Speaking of mod-wheel controls, holy cow, there are a ton of incredible controls that you can access via the mod wheel on your keyboard or other controller, or by control changes. Arrangement - Nothing really special about this, nothing really bad either. One soloist of particular note, Tommy Dorsey, was the first to play the trombone as a singing, lyrical solo instrument- a far cry from its more Wagnerian association of the previous century.

The slide is set up for removable lead pipes and comes with two. $2300 with wolf pack gig bag. Honestly, I could not be happier with my decision. This particular horn has the yellow brass bell, standard shires rotary valve and Conn style slide. Ravel comments specifically on Vauchant’s unique high register.
