Music and theatre flourished in the Baroque era. The Baroque Period spans from 1600 to 1750. They were musical narratives of the lives of heroic figures from the Bible and mythology. It was during this time that Pope Gregory I is generally believed to have collected and codified the music known as Gregorian Chant, which was the approved music of the Church.
